A stroll, training and dinner

The England lads strolling along the sea front at Brighton
This was most likely taken just before the game against Ireland
which was a Football League team playing the Football League of Ireland.

Back to training with Bert Williams, Bernard Stretton and Tom Finney
Bernard played in the RAF with Bert as a left half and Bert took him to Walsall as a guest player during the war.  After the war Bernard would play in goal for Luton Town and got an England cap.

Oslo, May 18th 1949

If you look at the signature of Billy Wright, signed “BALDY”, because he was thinning on top.
He was obviously taking a leaf out of Stan Mortensen’s book who often signed himself
as “Rock Man” or “Second Hand Car Salesman” and they both liked a little humour.
